Snow in Kyoto, Kitano Tenman-gu(北野天満宮）~January 21, 2022~

Kitano Tenmangu is well known for the god of study. A lot of students who are expecting big exams make a visit there to pray for their success in education.

This shrine is also famous for seasonal characteristics such as plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, and autumn leaves that you can enjoy visiting there all year round.

I visited there to see the shrine covered with snow which is usually rare to see even in winter these days in Kyoto.

The Cow is a symbol of Kitano Tenmangu shrine that’s considered a divine messenger. There are many statues of cows that you can touch specific parts of that you would like to heal.

Usually we would cleanse our hands here before entering the shrine, but due to COVID-19 we cannot use it at the moment. This was beautifully decorated.

This is the area where you can purchase charms for various purposes. For example: Family, Love, Success, Safety, Education etc.

This is the main hall for prayer.
